Purpose of the assignment

The task was to examine what barriers there are for fish if they want to swim from the North Sea or the East China Sea to higher spawning grounds.

Research on the rivers

The students did a research on the Yangtse River and the rivers IJssel and Rhine in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. They observed obstacles like; industry, pollution, dams, locks and shipping with online satellite maps and a documentary about the three gorges dam.

Visit of the fish migration river

During the exchange, the students visited the Afsluitdijk for a tour and lecture about the plans to create a fish migration river through the dike.
